We got a letter from the school today saying that (as of June 29) the kindergarten classes are going to be held in the regular elementary school instead of the early childhood center, which is where they've been for years. This is actually a good thing, because it means that Dan can drop them both off in the morning easily. And younger daughter is thrilled to be attending school in the same building as her sister. (The elementary school also has a much better playground, which she did not fail to notice. :)) I'm just wondering how they are going to manage it--I've never noticed empty rooms there, where are they going to put the new classes? And in less than two months, yet!

I'm having Sims issues. :) Skins and so forth have been either crashing the system or else giving me headless people (elder daughter actually rather likes the headless people), so I need to sit down and figure out which I'm missing parts of. I'm pretty sure it's skins that are doing it, anyway. Luckily I had planned on spending a lot of time on the computer this weekend (Dan is out of town at a SCA event) anyway. Not too much time, though.

We got the Porter translation of Beowulf today; we have the Heaney, it will be interesting to compare the two.

I'm giving up pop again, I think--too much sugar, too much sodium. I've done it before, and it doesn't take too long until you don't really want it anymore.

I made bread and chicken soup for dinner (used the last of the frozen chicken breasts, that's okay, it won't be soup weather for that much longer), then made whoopie pies in the evening. (Elder daughter has dubbed them "choco-burgers" for some reason. She'll have one in her lunch tomorrow regardless.) Because they are so awesome.

Read Nero Wolfe ("Black Orchids") in the evening because Dan was watching all the garage reality shows on Discovery Channel. I've seen American Chopper a couple of times, it's all right but nothing to compare to Rex Stout! Will probably knit a bit later while watching Daily Show.

Soooooo unproductive. :) Also okay, I have to learn to do bead weaving later this week, that will keep me busy for a while!

Elder daughter's science fair (the regional one) is tomorrow; Dan is taking her. (She has to be there for five hours, so younger-daughter-the-impatient and I will be staying home.) For this one, she has to be available during a certain time for the judges to ask questions about her project. She is a little nervous, but seems to be looking forward to it as well.

Brrrr

Elder daughter forgot her shoes today, and I just got back from bringing them to school. (This would be less annoying if I hadn't asked her last night and this morning whether she had everything! :) But no matter, these things happen.) So I went out, and I forgot my gloves (must be genetic!), and I fell in the snow on the way back into the house, and now I'm awfully chilly and going to go wrap up in a quilt and lie down on the couch.

Yeah, I definitely appear to be getting another wretched cold! :P

I'm alone in ADF chat; looks like SorceryNet is up to it's old tricks, getting in at all was a challenge. If everyone is having this problem it could be a slow night! A good chance to multitask and catch up on some computer stuff, in that case.

My daughter came running in today, shouting that she had "escaped from school!" Until September, but when you're eight, three months might as well be three years. It'll be great to have her back home with me for a while, and the little one is thrilled, at least until she tires of big-sister bossiness.

I'm debating whether to plant tulips or daylilies in front of the house this fall. Tulips are less expensive, but they're strictly spring blooms, while if I choose wisely I can have daylilies most of the summer. Plus I've already got a small bed of spring bulbs out front. Hm, maybe I'm done debating :).
