Day 06. A song that reminds you of somewhere. Electric Light Orchestra, "Showdown"

When I was a teenager, my family spent six weeks in Germany (Bonn, West Germany at the time), rented an apartment and stayed there, traveled around Germany, Austria, Denmark, using that as a base. I had one cassette tape with me, and I played the hell out of it--ELO's Greatest Hits.

Day 05. A song that reminds you of someone. David Bowie, "Modern Love"

This song reminds me of an old friend, a Bowie fan, who was HORRIFIED in 1983 when his newest persona/image was so...normal. When the video came on, it'd be "whatever happened to Ziggy Stardust? the Thin White Duke? what is this?" (Sorry nothing more interesting than that for this one. :))

Day 04. A song that makes you sad. Elvis Costello, "Veronica"

Costello wrote this song about a woman who can't remember her life except in brief moments, inspired by his grandmother who had Alzheimer's. It's a beautiful song and so sad.

More to come! )

Day 03. A song that makes you happy. Ramones, "Rock N Roll High School"

Actually, pretty much any Ramones song makes me happy, but this is a favorite. :)

(Testing post-dating, fingers crossed that you don't see this until tomorrow!)

Soon, soon... )

Day 02. Your least favorite song. George Jones, "He Stopped Loving Her Today."

First of all, it's country music, which I tend not to like much--there are exceptions, of course (I'm quite fond of Patsy Cline, for example), so that's not a deal-breaker right there. I think I hate it because there are so many folks who think it's romantic. Guy and girl break up, girl moves on, guy pines away for the rest of his life--literally. That's not romantic, it's pathetic.

Things to come )

Day 01. Your favorite song

This varies a lot--I don't have a favorite song that's been my favorite forever and ever--but I'm pretty fond of this one right now--Muse, "Time is Running Out."

I don't seem to get tired of it. :)

Nothing to see here, just move along )

We'll see whether I manage to make it through the whole thing.
