Received Harrison's Themis today; now to decide whether to dive right in or to finish Nilsson's Greek Piety first.

They are both old enough that I'll want to keep a shaker of salt nearby while reading them (and no, [livejournal.com profile] chronarchy, that doesn't mean I'm drinking margaritas in order to get through them... :)).

Ooh! I have Themis also arriving soon!

Let me know what you think of it. :)

I will--so far I've just glanced at it, and it looks a lot like Prolegomena--you know, full of that incredibly annoying turn-of-the-last-century academic prose. But undoubtedly worth wading through :).

I hear ya there. I remember reading through Prolegamena, which I need to reread one of these days.

Yeah, there's so much extraneous material that I always wonder if they were paid by the word...

Farnell is like that too, and that's one I find myself referring to fairly often. I always wonder why no one has yet attempted a modern treatment of his subject.
