Today's adventure in glamour

Although I am generally a natural girl, today (having recently managed to grow them out) I decided to paint my nails.
So I'm sitting there painting my nails blue (great colors they have now, nothing like the last time I had long nails, which is longer ago than I care to admit), and my 8-year-old asks if she can do hers as well, which is a rare treat for her, and sets to work. (Yeah, sometimes it's nice to be the fun mom. :))
Then the 4-year-old decided this was a pretty nifty idea and got a bottle of polish for herself--not bothering to ask, because obviously if mom and sister are doing it, it's a good idea. Now, when a 4-year-old applies nail polish, she applies it all the way to the knuckle. On both sides.
And when a 4-year-old has to have nail polish immediately removed from her fingertips, it apparently tickles because she laughs like a maniac and rolls on the floor so that mom's gorgeous blue nails lose a lot of their freshly-applied color.
Ah well, I wasn't really in a blue mood anyway.
