I have just seen what must surely be in the running for the most inappriate use of an old pop song in a new commercial.
JC Penney, selling jewelry for Valentine's Day. Lovely pastoral scene, happy couples, pearls in pink boxes, pretty red balloons in the air.
The song?
"Neun and Neunzig Luftballoon."
In English, and pretty cut up, but still profoundly disturbing.
