Over the last several years I've found that most of the music I want to listen to is sung by women. It's not that I used to be a guys-only sort of music fan and now I'm not, it's that these days the music I want is so heavily weighted in favor of women's voices. It might be that there is more of it available now, which is surely the case compared to when I was a girl, even when I was a young woman, but I also find myself reaching back 10-15 years to find new-to-me pieces. Garbage of course. Veruca Salt. But now also Hole, Letters to Cleo, Liz Phair, Spiderbait, the Dollyrots. I'm not sure what's up with that, I'm about to turn fifty, surely my musical tastes shouldn't be expanding any more?
