An analogical thought

Polytheism is like walking down a busy main street in a small town. There are storefronts on either side, some of which will draw your interest, and others which will not. Some of them have those big folding signs across the sidewalk declaring that they're open or advertising what they've got, that you have to walk around to avoid. Some of them have big picture windows with elaborate displays (which, again, may or may not be to your taste). Some of them have an employee standing in the doorway handing out flyers if you want to take one. Some of them have barkers shouting about what's in the store and why it's so wonderful. And others have people who accost you in the street and invite you in.
