Lesson #2 for today

When you are preparing to make a libation to the gods, and when you are opening up a box of wine which you purchased instead of the bottles you generally use (thinking it might store more easily, which remains to be seen), do make sure, before you turn on the spigot, that the opening is pointed down rather than up.
Because if you do not do this, your cup (which you are holding in the logical under-the-spigot location) will remain empty, and you will be treated to a festive fountain of wine shooting into the air, showering you with tasty red droplets, and leaving a potentially-questionable crimson stain on your pale-green carpet.
(Not that I know this from recent experience, of course... :))

Date: 2004-08-30 04:26 am (UTC)Wow, daily libations! Let's see, my libation schedule--between two pantheons it adds up :))--Sundays to all the Greek gods, Tuesdays for Tyr, Wednesdays for Odin and You-Know-Who, Thursdays for Thor and Sif, Fridays separate ones for Aphrodite and for Frigga, Freyja and Frey. Monthly libations for Apollo, Artemis, Hermes, Aphrodite, Eros, and Hekate. I do have daily prayers but no daily libations :).
