To answer any of the obvious questions: no, I don't plan to finish or publish it, it was just for myself; and no, I don't have any more interest in writing fiction than I ever had. It was fun, and I won't discount the possibility of doing it again if I come up with something else to say, but right now I am not planning on it. Oh, and I suck at fiction writing. Big time. Which is fine. :) I love to read fiction, but just really have no personal desire to write it.

What did I learn?

50,000 words isn't a hell of a lot. I've only got 110 pages, and that's using a 12-point type face because I can't see a smaller one.

If I want to actually get any writing--of any sort--done, I need to do it when no one else is around, either when they are gone and I know they'll be gone for a while, or after they are all asleep. Because if anyone else is around, they have to talk to me. Apparently. :)

That if I set small goals for myself I can do this stuff, and if I can do this stuff, I ought to be able to do the writing I do want to do.

It's kind of private, actually, sorry. :( And not for the usual reasons.

Yes, actually--it was a real test for me and I'm glad to know that I can still do this sort of thing.

My nano book ended up being 532 pages by the time i finished it a year and a half later.

It is such a great accomplishment to get to that 50,000 word mark, and I congratulate you. You should feel really good about it.
