Well, I did back up my LJ. It's one of those things I've been halfway meaning to do for some time, and this actually got me to do it. I'm not anticipating a fall of Livejournal anytime soon--I try not to be an Early Adopter of internet panics--and I think most of us are aware of just how permanent our electronic ramblings are. But I've always kind of wanted to have my LJ saved, and now I do.

I'm not planning on leaving LJ for other pastures. If LJ goes down, well, there's always MySpace and Facebook and Twitter and regular old blogs. I do like the Livejournal interface. It seems uniquely suited for the sort of community-building that the internet can support so well.

As for real life, got the car out of the shop, did some grocery-shopping. exhausted myself pulling the sled full of groceries from the garage to the house (yeah, I'm pathetic), and am now waiting for the kids to get home from school.

InsaneJournal seems to be the winner so far, but I find the "We're all insane!" theme annoying. I'm also revolted by pure social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook--but I notice you are on Heathen Places, which I was just made aware of a week or so ago. Personally I still prefer e-groups and to a certain extent forums, though I wish the latter threaded comments as LJ does--years ago I was on a German-language forum that did, and it facilitated conversations immensely.

I'm happy to see you starting to post more here again, it suggests you're happier :-)

Frith,
the ever late M
