In case you didn't hear about it, Yahoo is closing down Geocities later this year. (No, they don't have an alternate free hosting site--but they do encourage users to switch to their non-free service!)
I know a lot of folks have old websites on Geocities with material they may not have archived elsewhere, so if you do, you might want to go get it before it's gone.

Date: 2009-04-28 11:28 am (UTC)In many ways, I'll be happy to see it go. . . a lot of pages that should direct to my pages are currently directing to GeoCities. . . I haven't been bothered to remove the old page. Now, I can make an inventory of what's there and transfer it away or set redirects in the face of impending doom for the site.
I can't say as I'll mourn the loss of the crappy teen pagan sites that dot its landscape, though. . . I don't think we'll lose much good information, but we'll lose a lot of bad info.
