Unfair

So tonight I decided to get out an old counted cross-stitch project. Old, as in I put it away when elder daughter (the one who's working on getting her driver's license) was about two. Haven't done any since, until today.

First discovery: I can no longer use a size 26 needle because I can't see to thread it anymore. S'okay, I can use a 22.

Second discovery: 25-count linen is VERY difficult to work with. Even when holding it about 3 inches from my nose.

Third discovery: I really resent this bodily mutiny. Yes, I've known for years that my eyes are not what they were. It's still an awful feeling.

I considered switching to a larger count fabric but I like how it looks. (I think. I'm starting to doubt anything my eyes feed me.)

So I guess I go for a brighter light and some magnifying glasses, see what that does.

Old, old, I am getting old.

It is unfair. All I know to do is keep solving the problems.

Maybe elder daughter wants to cross stitch? Meanwhile we can finger-paint. :)

Elder daughter generally has no patience for arts or crafts these days (she is 15 and social life is all :)), although she did take an art class in school last year.

I really shouldn't have been surprised, I now quilt with a #9 (#10 on a good day) needle when I used to use (and thread!) a #12 with no problem. I suppose my quilting stitches have suffered but it's not like I can see them well enough to tell.

BTW, I loved the last tree you did!

Thank you!

I've lost interest in painting miniatures, I just don't like what it does to my body, and it is probably also related to vision changes.
