May. 6th, 2006 10:57 pmWe had our May Day blot to Freyja today. Although we've also done a Maypole for years, this year it was so damned cold and windy that we decided to have our Maypole as a part of our Midsummer celebrations instead. (Probably more culturally appropriate anyway!) It just doesn't seem like May Day when it's below freezing... At least it had stopped snowing. Although we're due more tonight.
We used a bottle of Polish mead that Dan picked up a while back, not bad and we will probably never locate it again :). Mead is easier to find now than it used to be (I remember the first time I came across a bottle of mead in a store--I don't remember the brand, which is probably just as well since it was pretty much honey diluted with white wine :)) but it's still not a common thing, and we tend to stock up when we are around it (trips through Wisconsin tend to detour to White Winter, for example).
